Individual Mentoring
Individual Mentoring is a program that helps you learn about yourself by building a relationship with another person and developing your interpersonal skills. Individual Mentoring participants develop mentoring relationships with kids, elderly, peers, and professionals.

The state goal is to have 25 individuals and 5 chapters do one or more modules.

Project Ideas for the five modules are
  • Networks: Meet with the 4-H group in your area and do a community service project together.

  • Kids: Sponsor a read-a-thon with your elementary class where “buddies” work to read the most.

  • Career Mentoring: Use the Individual Excellence program and complete the shadowing part of the project.

  • Elder Mentor: Start an “adopt a grandparent” program.

  • Teamwork: Sponsor a “family night” and teach about Families First through games.

Buddy Mentoring
Buddy Mentoring works to increase self esteem of both FCCLA members and younger learners.  It serves younger learners through utilizing FCCLA projects as short-tem mentoring activities to develop leadership skills and generate interest in Family and Consumer Science program.

The state goals is to work with 1500 buddy mentors for the 2001-2002 school year.

LIFT--Learning Is Fun Together
Minnesota LIFT, Learning Is Fun Together, is an intergenerational project involving teens, elders, and special needs children.  The program works to utilize volunteers’ talents and skills, strengthen the self confidence and academic skills of “the children we care about,” and encourage teens to develop leadership skills.

The state goals is to have 10 chapters participate in LIFT.

Ideas: Plant a garden with your child and the elder or go fishing.
