Project Ideas

  • Family Reading Night--Each month kids are allowed to come to the school for a night of fun and entertainment. Different themes are presented for each month, and members can play the parts of the theme’s characters. Remember, each kid must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Family Fun Night--Families get together for a community to get together, as teams. Family scavenger hunts, games, and challenges are a few of the exciting events.
  • Give a Family Survey--Give several questions about how often they are together, what they do when together, and what they think they need to change. Have families read the survey, so they know what they can work on.
  • Host Family Culture Night--Have booths set up, and show different cultures in the community. Different traditions and cultural items may be shown around the room.
  • Color Contest--Have the elementary kids draw pictures of their families, and the winners receive a prize from local businesses to use with their family.
  • Promote Family Table Time--Give announcements and PSA’s that encourage students to spend meal times at home with their families.
  • Flyers--Send flyers home with kids, reminding them of National Family week (the week of Thanksgiving).
  • Child Care--Provide child care at school sporting or music events for parents with young children.
  • Babysitters training--Contact local First Aid center for information about setting up babysitter training and offer a training at your school.
