Showcase of Student Work

Organizing a Family and Consumer Science Showcase is a great way to inform the community of what students are learning in your classroom.

The purpose of the Family and Consumer Science Showcase program is to:

  • Publicize your local program.
  • Show parents and community members how students can meet graduation standards in FACS classes.
  • Provide students that opportunity to display their work, take pride in it and receive recognition.
  • Involve students in a State Showcase to receive recognition.
What do I gain as a teacher?

You gain…

  • Recognition for your Family and Consumer Science program and curriculum.
  • Publicity for your efforts.
  • More support from the community and parents because they gain a better understanding of the material you teach.

What do my students gain?

Students gain…

  • Opportunity to present their work to outside audiences.
  • Recognition for work they completed in the classroom.
  • Development of their organizational skills.
  • Enhancement of communication skills.
  • Network with peers interested in the field.
  • Cultivation of imagination and creative thought.
Overview
The FACS Showcase is designed to be similar to a Science Fair. Students have a table to display their work, the community can view it, and the students are evaluated at the booth. At the end of the evening, you present awards to participants.
